The Duolingo English Examination (DET) is an updated language assessment test that has risen to prominence in light of current events. The DET, like other language assessment exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, and PTE, assesses the applicants’ four fundamental language skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. The DET, on the other hand, has its own novel testing methods. It’s a computer-adaptive test, which means that if you get a question right, the next one gets harder. If you get the first one incorrect, the following one becomes easy.

• In comparison to other examinations, which take an average of 3 hours to complete, it may be done in under an hour.

• Candidates can take the examination as many times as they wish during a 30-day period, but not more than twice.

DET Exam Format

There are seven separate item types in the exam, which combine to assess test takers’ reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. The difficulty of the Duolingo English Test will alter as the computer changes its real-time assessment of test takers’ language skill as they move through the test. The computer-adaptive section of the exam consists of five item types: c-test, audio yes/no vocabulary, visual yes/no vocabulary, dictation, and prompted imitation.
