What is the SAT Exam?
The College Board, a private, non-profit corporation in the United States, publishes the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test), which is administered by the Educational Testing Service. The SAT takes three hours to complete, plus 50 minutes for the optional essay, and costs foreign students US$98.50 (US$113.50 with the optional essay). The SAT is administered in the months of October, December, March, and May. The outcomes of two 800-point parts, mathematics and critical reading and writing, are combined to provide a score that ranges from 400 to 1600.
Structure of the Scores
A scaled score of 200 to 800 points is calculated from the raw score. The following is the score structure:
- Score range: 400–1600
- Section on Evidence-Based Reading and Writing: 200–800
- 200–800 in the math section
- SAT Three scores ranging from 2 to 8 for the essay
